Very easy read. It reads more like bullet points with short explanations. Even "Non-readers" could quickly and easily read and enjoy this book. As for it contents, it gave me so much to think about. It pointed out so many things that I do that I didn't realize. Some good, some bad... It gave me some insight on why my wife reacts the way she does to my actions and words. My wife is reading the "100 Ways to Love Your Husband" and I can easily say that things around our house have been easier. Just read it buddy. You'll be glad you did! And get your wife to read the Love Your Husband book. BIG benefits. ;)

I have never been a book reader. Your book has helped m in so.many ways. My relationship with my wife and with my Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We have become closer as a unit and reading this book ha opened my eyes up to many things. I thought I had it all figured out with all the tools I needed. This book is amazing. I would recommend it to any male that may be thinking about marriage or maybe starting a relationship. Get this book. Truly amazing.

In 1942, several Hispanic families left drought-devastated Encino and headed for the small, peanut-farming town of Portales in Roosevelt County, New Mexico. Among them was the Trujillo family, including five-year-old Agapito, who later became the countys first Hispanic law enforcement officer. The new arrivals did not feel welcome in Portales, which was almost entirely Anglo and a rumored sundown town. However, determined to put down roots and take advantage of economic opportunities, they eventually thrived. Agapito Trujillo tells the story of his familys migration to Roosevelt County alongside the struggles and triumphs of the Hispanic community with candor, grace and an obvious love for his heritage and neighbors.

About the Author
Agapito Pete Trujillo was born in Palma, New Mexico, on February 19, 1937. When he was very young, his family relocated to Encino, New Mexico, for a short period of time. Because of economic necessity, the family became farm workers and migrated to the plains of eastern New Mexico. It is there that this adventure took place.

I found the book "Hispanics of Roosevelt County New Mexico History" very interesting. I have always had a lot of interest in Hispanic heritage. Though I am not from Roosevelt County I could relate to a lot of the incidents. I am glad someone finally wrote a book on the it. I recommend the book very highly.

Definitely a book you won't be able to put down.The author has certainly captured what it's like to be a minority living in small town America, and the struggles to overcome the obstacles they faced . Waiting for his next book.

Great Book, Great Drummer

The book does several things:

1) It teaches the drummer how to read music. Most drummers skip this essential skill and play by ear.

2) The CD that comes with the book has a full band with the drum track you're learning. You learn a short riff, then play along with the band. Much more fun than playing in isolation w/out any other instruments. Plus, you can try out different "textures" as you play, to see how it sounds with other instruments.

3) You learn different styles. Even in this book (Level 1) the student gets exposure to different styles of music, which really makes it more fun and challenging.

I've had two drum instructors: The first one more or less taught me to play by ear and because he was a rock drummer, that's what I learned. The second instructor was Scott Schroedl (the author). This guy is the real deal. An amazing drummer.

I'm not writing this as a favor to Mr. Schroedl, rather I'm writing this because his method worked for me.

It's working great for me - a total beginner!

I bought this book several years ago when I bought a small electronic drum pad, but never opened it until I bought a full electronic drum set a few weeks ago. It is working very well for me, and I have progressed through about a third of the book. The CD is very helpful. In addition to letting you hear what the beat is supposed to sound like, it is much more interresting to play the beats to the accompanying music on the CD rather than just playing the drums by themselves. I highly recommend the book.

A good start

I love how this book is grounded in written music and that it comes with music to play along with on CD. I ripped the tracks onto my iPod and put each track on loop until I get each down. I'm about halfway through the book and I'm really liking the method presented.

A wonderful tale told by a real story teller

A wonderful tale told by a real story teller. I was reminded of a much earlier time in my life when life was not as complicated as it is today but nevertheless was full of hardship and hard work.It brought to mind a time when friends played a huge part in our lives and even though I think that now it is somewhat diminished, the spirit oh Australian mate ship is alive and well. The tale emphasised the fact that a man's word and handshake was his bond to which he would do his utmost to uphold. I remember these man and indeed have met quite a few of them and whilst on the outside they were hard as nails, on the inside they would do anything for you, particularly should you be experiencing hard ship yourself.

Not So Long Ago...

Tom Cole reveals the Northern Territory of Australia in all its untamed and raw delights. Amazingly we had barely encroached on this area just 50 years ago, a fact he bears witness to. He passed away just a few years ago, but left us several good books before he departed. This one relates the story of his life as a stockman (cowboy) and croc hunter, of the people & cattle stations which began to spread across the territory, and attests to the difficulty in establishing their viability.

Hell West and Crooked derives it's title from an Australian stockman's term to describe cattle and livestock scattered far and wide all over the Outback countryside.

This book is part biography, part adventure, and part history. Tom Cole was the real deal, a son of the great Australian Outback, and a keen observer of what it was like to live in the Northern Territory of Australia in the 1920's and 1930's. It is an easy and entertaining journal of this young man's life in those wild times. He was a stockmen, horse breaker, consummate horseman, buffalo hunter, and crocodile hunter long before Mick Dundee.

Tom Cole's writing style vividly presents what it was like to live on the frontier of a still sparsely populated land even today.
