About the Author
The author of this book hold two fellowship degrees (FCPS,FFDRCSI) in orthodontics and is presently working as an Assistant professor . To address shortcoming of orthodontic literature on brackets, I started working on orthodontic brackets in the year 2012 by collecting the brackets which were debonded during my clinical practice.This took me through the entire literature on orthodontic brackets as presented in various journals and manufacturer catalogues. This provided me an access to real time pictures of brackets using special micro lenses and portable microscopes.

Great information, presentation could be better

Searching for a book specifically on Panuntukan yields very few results. Reviews of Faye's 'A Guide To Pananutukan' are very encouraging and make this book first choice out of the few available.

As a novice trainee in the art I can only agree with the reviews. The information is particularly useful and well written, and comes from an experienced pratictioner of the art who has established a great following for himself. The format of the book is of a step-by-step illustrated training manual aimed at teaching the basics of the system.

If I were to comment on any negative points regarding the publication, the only one would be on its presentation. Considering the trouble I found in sourcing what seemed to be at the time the only available copy of the book left on the internet (from the author's own online store in fact!), I was a little disappointed with the format of the print.

The book is presented as an A4-sized plastic ring-bound print out, that could easily be mistaken for a domestic-quality MS Word-style document printed out on average-quality paper (single side printing only). The quality of the illustrative photo images can tend to be pixelated, giving a rather unprofessional look.

I understand that the idea of the book is to be a sequential training manual including a notes section for recording progress and development - however, the impression of the new, first-hand copy of the book I received is that someone simply printed me out a copy in the office and put it in the post..!

I believe that the price I paid for this valuable information is fair; I do also believe however that the publication would greatly benefit from a revamp in the quality of illustrative images and particularly in the print format. I would however still recommend this book to anyone interested in Panantukan.

Boxes are formatted Horizontally, not Vertically

There are 3 main issues I have with this product. The first, being that the cover of the book would lead you to believe that the paper inside was formatted similarly. It is not. The cover indicates vertical boxes, but the actual paper has the boxes horizontal on the page. Additionally, the pages are not perforated for removal. I thought this was a notebook (as listed) but instead, it is just a book. The pages are not intended to be removed, which makes using the back side of the paper difficult due to the spine. Finally, the cover really bothers me due to the blurring of the Japanese Characters which stand out in stark contrast to the properly printed title of the Notebook. It looks as though the image used for the top portion of the cover was very small, and it was stretched many times its original size to fit. The blurriness of the characters and crisp font on the bottom part of the book actually make my eyes hurt to look at.

I will use this notebook, and flip the book itself horizontally to practice, but I will certainly not repurchase this item, and I do not recommend it to others, mostly due to the orientation of the paper inside being different from the orientation on the cover. I understand it is in poor taste to judge a book by its cover, but since we cannot look inside the Notebook before buying, we kind of have to go by the cover and description, both of which are either misleading or vague. I wish I did not purchase this product, and I hope that my Review pictures will help potential buyers get a better feel for what they are purchasing before they commit to buying.

-- I have included pictures of the cover, to try to convey the blurry jpeg look of the images used in comparison with the bottom portion of the cover which is much crisper. I have also included a picture of the opened Notebook so you can see exactly how the interior pages look, and finally, a picture with the ruler to show the size of the boxes (because that's something I would've liked to have seen too!) --

Neat Japanese style notebook.

I thought I would use this to practice kanji, but decided it is perfect as a simple Japanese diary, to help practice writing down my daily thoughts in Japanese, while also learning to write top-down, right-left. I recommend this for beginners and intermediate students, or if you're teaching yourself. And at the price, it's a very reasonable value.

A must have for beginners!

This paper is excellent! I'm in my first semester of Japanese and this has been a life saver, I take almost all my notes in it and its great to use and has enough space between the columns and in the margins for me to write in English. Its great to get the character size consistant, I'm one of the few kids in the class that can keep their characters the same size because I practice on this paper. It bends easily but keeps its shape well. Nice crisp lines.

Fascinating. Human. Political. Moral. All woven together for an incredible read.

I rated this book 5 because I've never read a book that so artfully combined a sensational political story while staying absolutely close to the fantastically normal human beings involved.

There is a profound dearth, a bizarre silence in the US, when it comes honest discussion about personal responsibility, societal discipline, drugs, religion, race, violence, fear of the other, and the deep deep psychic pain that so many carry tied to these things.

And in True American, you get a high-voltage (not over the top) empathy transmitter.

It's a sad and inspiring book that is so measured that it'll leave you with a touch of hope and fear for our future...and it shows you that both are needed.

A good read.

I read this because the author is coming to our community library sometime next year. Good story, well told. In a perfect world, we would all understand that followers of faiths other than our own are good people whose faith also teaches them the values that are prevalent in Western religions. And that death row convicts are capable of remorse and worthy of forgiveness. I would like to think that those who pick up this book for maybe the wrong reasons actually read it and open their hearts.

An In Cold Blood revelation of the new America and what has become of the American Dream.

You don't know America unless you have read The True American. The American Dream that we grew up with and defined hope and success for generations is forever gone. This book goes far beyond income inequality and other issues that permeate today's political and social debates to the root causes for a fractious America. If you like your non fiction told with a fascinating story while making you question long held beliefs then you will find The True American a great and memorable read. The last 100 pages reveal more about the effects of the cycle of poverty and violence than anything I have ever read. Which is the cherry on top of a powerful ride through the mind of a killer and the lives he changed forever, both for the worse and thankfully in one instance for the good.

For the Second Edition the authors have completely revised the whole text. With the Baylis-Hillman Reaction and the Swern Oxidation, new reactions have been added. Key reactions such as the Sharpless Epoxidation and the Heck Reaction have been completely revised. Where necessary new references were added and new developments such as the Sharpless Dihydroxylation have been included.

Overall, this book is concentrating on the most important named organic reactions. The reactions are presented in alphabetical order, from the Acyloin Condensation to the Wurtz Reaction. For each reaction clearly outlined reaction mechanisms and applications are presented.

This is a great book because it shows detailed mechanisms, different applications, valuable information regarding the named reactions, and is has the references right below the reaction so you can go look them up. The reason I gave it four stars and not five is because it does not have all of the named reactions (however what book would), and it does not have any appendices eg an alphabetical list of abbreviations ie DMF or DBAF. Some named reaction books do.
